About Professor Kamler
Barbara Kamler is Emeritus Professor of Education at Deakin University, Australia. She has a strong reputation in the field of language and literacy education, where she has been a key player in the educational innovations of the field, nationally and internationally. Professor Kamler has been a Visiting Scholar at the University of New Hampshire (1980), University of California at Berkeley (1984), Lancaster University (1995), University of California at San Diego (1995), University of British Columbia (1999), Columbia University (2002) and University of Nottingham (2005).
Professor Kamler has made significant contributions to scholarship in four inter-related areas of study, including:
- writing studies and pedagogies
- doctoral education and pedagogies
- critical literacy and critical discourse analysis
- early childhood and gendered language practices.
